Winner of the Academy Award, and one of the most important technical films in animation history: the first use of Disney's multiplane camera, which gave animated backgrounds genuine depth for the first time. There is no plot and no dialogue — a storm passes over a derelict mill and the animals inside survive it — and the entire film is an experiment in atmosphere, lighting, rain and reflection. Everything the studio learned here went straight into Snow White. It is beautiful, and it is quiet enough that small children either fall completely under its spell or lose interest entirely.
