Widely regarded as the best of the Chuck Jones entries. Jerry, half-frozen, carves himself a village inside a wheel of Swiss cheese, and the film builds to something genuinely warm — Tom, locked out in the cold, ends up being taken in rather than beaten. The Alpine design work is lovely, and it is one of very few shorts in the series that ends in real reconciliation.
