Puss Gets the Boot
Feline “Jasper” is given an ultimatum by his master: break one more thing and you’re out! Rodent Jerry does his best to make sure that his tormentor “gets the boot”.
The first Tom and Jerry cartoon ever made, and nominated for the Academy Award. Neither character has his final name here — the cat is Jasper and the mouse is unnamed — and MGM had so little faith in the idea that Hanna and Barbera had to fight to make a second one. It went on to become the most decorated theatrical cartoon series in history. The premise is already fully formed: break one more thing and you are out, and a mouse who knows it.
Features Mammy Two Shoes, the Black maid character drawn in the racial caricature style of 1940. Later broadcasts redubbed or replaced her.
