Private Pluto

Pluto is a guard dog on a military base. He’s told there are saboteurs, and is assigned to guard a pill-box (gun emplacement). Before long, the “saboteurs” reveal themselves: Chip and Dale, making their debut, using the cannon-like gun as their own personal nutcracker.

Landmark
The first appearance of Chip and Dale. They are unnamed and near-identical here, doing little more than storing acorns in a gun barrel, but this is where two of Disney's most durable characters begin. The wartime setting was routine for 1943 and is incidental to the comedy.
