The sixth duckling can’t swim, so he goes to Jerry, who helps him learn to swim. Tom has devious plans – catch the duckling and cook him so he can have something to eat.

Quacker wants to swim and Jerry cannot, which reverses the usual rescue dynamic — the small helpless one is the competent swimmer. It is a neat structural idea, and it gives Jerry a genuine vulnerability the series rarely allowed him.
