A retelling of the life of the legendary American itinerant apple tree planter.

A segment from the 1948 package feature Melody Time, later released on its own. It is one of the warmest things the studio produced in its lean post-war years, sung throughout by Dennis Day, and it takes the American tall tale seriously rather than sending it up. The ending is unusually sincere for a Disney short.
