Jerry hides an escaped circus lion from Tom, and the lion turns out to be polite, homesick and rather sad. It is one of the warmest shorts in the series and one of the few where the guest character has an inner life — the ending, with the lion sailing home, is genuinely affecting.
An escaped circus lion is the central figure, though he turns out to be entirely gentle.
