Goliath II
Goliath II is a 6-inch-tall elephant (son of the huge Goliath). Heβs a big disappointment to his father, but mom is proud of Goliath II anyway. Goliath II is constantly getting into trouble because heβs so small. In particular, the tiger Raja looks for every opportunity to try a bite-size taste of elephant. After one incident where he ran away and his mother scolded him, he runs away. After heβs rescued, the rest of the elephants are terrified of a mouse, but Goliath II stands his ground.
Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short, narrated by Sterling Holloway, and one of the first Disney films made with the Xerox process that would define the studio's look through the 1960s. The scratchy, graphic style was a cost-saving measure that turned into an aesthetic, and the story β a six-inch elephant who defeats what nobody else can β is a well-judged fable about size that lands squarely with small children.
