The most historically important cartoon Disney ever made. It was the first commercially released film in full three-strip Technicolor, and it won the very first Academy Award ever given for an animated short. Disney had it half-finished in black and white, saw the new colour process, scrapped the work and started again — a gamble that gave the studio exclusive access to three-strip Technicolor for animation for years and effectively locked its competitors out of colour. Every colour cartoon that exists descends from this one.
