Fishin’ Around

Mickey takes Pluto fishing in a boat on a lake, but they aren’t too successful. The fish mock them, and even steal the bait can. Finally, the game warden spots them (Mickey had ignored the “no fishing” sign) and gives chase.

An early black-and-white Mickey in which he is straightforwardly a poacher, ignoring the no-fishing sign and fleeing the warden. The pre-1935 Mickey was allowed to be a minor delinquent, and shorts like this are the best evidence of the character the studio later sanded down.
