One of the most affectionately remembered Silly Symphonies, and one of the first to build a whole story around a character being mocked for a physical difference and then vindicated by it. Elmer proved so popular that the studio kept trying to build features around him. The plot — the thing you are ashamed of turns out to be the thing that saves everyone — has been remade by every animation studio since, and this is close to the original.
