The origin story, and the episode that does the most to explain why Scrooge is not simply a miser. Carl Barks established the essentials — a boy in Glasgow, a bootblack's job, a worthless American dime paid as a deliberate insult, and a lifetime spent proving the point — and the series tells it with real respect. It is also the clearest statement of the show's actual moral: the dime matters because of what it cost, not what it is worth. If you show one episode to explain the whole series, show this one.
