One of the most atmospheric episodes the series produced and a favourite among adult fans. The idea of a shadow acting independently is very old — Andersen wrote it, and so did Barrie — and DuckTales handles it with more visual imagination than a weekday cartoon strictly needed. The animation of the shadows moving across Duckburg is genuinely striking.
The living-shadow imagery is genuinely eerie and unsettles some younger viewers.
