Flintheart Glomgold is Carl Barks's invention — the second richest duck in the world, and the one villain whose motive Scrooge genuinely understands. The series uses him as the mirror image: same drive, same fortune, none of the scruples, which is how the show smuggles in the idea that how you get rich matters.
