S01E01 - Don't Give Up the Ship

DuckTales was the show that created the modern television animation business. Disney had never made a daily syndicated cartoon before, and the studio spent far more per episode than anyone thought sensible — the result looked like nothing else on weekday afternoons in 1987 and forced every competitor to raise their game. Almost everything about the series, including Scrooge's character and half its plots, comes from Carl Barks's Uncle Scrooge comics of the 1950s.
