Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Cartoons), and a remake of Disney's own earlier silent-era work — the studio had learned enough in five years to rebuild its old material properly. Mickey on a steam shovel with Pete as the foreman is the classic setup, and the construction-site climax is genuinely vertiginous for a 1932 cartoon.
